Atmosphere is king at NYC's transporting new West Village bar/lounge Jane Hotel Lobby Bar, set in a longtime, seen-it-all waterfront hotel that sheltered Titanic survivors in 1912 and more recently housed an avant-garde theater; the design is a riff on the Freemans aesthetic, exuding the same fading grandeur but with better bones to work with – soaring ceilings, an airy mezzanine – and more interesting objets d’art – a stuffed monkey, a dilapidated disco ball and refrigerator-size urinals.
