Weekend sleepyheads have three more reasons to get out of bed with these restaurants’ newly launched brunch services.
paul k: It may have a reputation as a pre-curtain dining haunt, but this Hayes Valley Med is now courting the brunch crowd too. New chef Shawn Bayless (ex Incanto and Farallon) is serving dishes like eggs Benedict with housemade lox, complemented by a slate of eye-opening new cocktails such as a passion fruit mimosa (Saturday–Sunday, 10:30 AM–2:30 PM; 415-552-7132).
Presidio Social Club: Dishes on this New American’s brunch menu include GI Jose’s Special (Mission-style chilequiles topped with eggs), rum-soaked challah French toast and the Bunker Buster, a 10-oz. buffalo burger. Bartender Tim Stookey has also introduced a new list of retro “Restoratives,” such as the champagne-and-absinthe cocktail, "Death in the Afternoon" (Saturday–Sunday, 10 AM–2 PM; 415-885-1888).
Restaurant Cassis: Just in time to coincide with its new alfresco sidewalk seating (available day and evening, weather permitting), this niçoise-inspired Pac Heights bistro has added brunch to its repertoire. The menu offers Francophile twists on morning faves (e.g. caramelized French toast) along with straight-up classics like croque monsieur and salade frisée aux lardons (Saturday–Sunday, 10:30 AM–2:30 PM; 415-440-4500).
