Superbowl

For all you expats out there, the first weekend in February doesn’t mean the RBS 6 Nations kickoffs – it’s all about American football, specifically the 44th-annual Super Bowl. If you’re looking for a place to watch the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts battle, check out the list below of places that will be showing the game (live coverage starts at 11 PM) on 7 February.

Bodeans: The Westbourne location is the only one left taking reservations, but they’re going quick, so make sure to call right away to save a spot. A £25 cover charge includes a guaranteed seat and halftime feast of ribs, chicken, pulled pork, BBQ beans and coleslaw (020-7727-9503).

Hard Rock Cafe: Watch the game on various large screens for a cover charge of £10 (which also includes a bottle of Budweiser). Make sure to get there at 9 PM to save a seat and get in on raffles and prizes (020-7629-0382).

On Tuesday, one of Sohos most popular and high-end Indian restaurants is finally reopening after suffering damage last summer from a massive fire in the building next door. To celebrate its reopening, Red Fort is offering 50% off all food served 3–10 February – so no need to make a big dent in your first paycheck of 2010. On hand (as he has been for the past 25 years), head chef Azadur Rahman will be finessing his Mughal-inspired menu with new offerings like spinach and fenugreek patties with a filling of cheese and coriander; lightly spiced grilled monkfish with saffron and cardamon marinade; Scottish lobster with saffron, garlic, cinnamon and nutmeg; and ostrich fillet with royal cumin, bay leaf and black pepper (reserve online or call 020-7437-2525).

You probably don't know this (we certainly keep forgetting), but February isn't just the shortest month – it's also Pancake Month. So it should come as little surprise that on Tuesday, 16 February, Freggo, an Argentinean ice cream and coffee bar on Swallow Street off Piccadilly Circus, is celebrating by giving out a complimentary dulce de leche pancake with every coffee purchased. Sadly, the offer only lasts the one day (020-7287-9506; 27–29 Swallow St. W1B).

The iPad isn't the only big Apple-related news this week. Zagat Survey has just released Zagat To Go 3.0 (ZTG) for the iPhone and iPod Touch into the wilds of the App Store. What's new in this latest update? Lots. To start, now you don't need to be connected to the internet to access our ratings and reviews of restaurants, nightlife and stores, as our new "offline" feature lets you download our database to your phone, so you can still find a spot even while you're in a service-free area. Also new to ZTG 3.0 is the ability to write and submit reviews instantaneously from the application. Had a great meal and want to tell the world? Do it while waiting for your check.

And that's not all! After releasing the first augmented-reality restaurant guide for the Android last year, we've brought the technology to the iPhone. Walking down the street and want to know what Zated-Rated spots are around you? Just tap the Retina (eye logo) button in the app and scan the area for options. To get a closer look at some of these new features, watch the video above.

Already own Zagat To Go, but want these new features? No worries, 3.0 is available as a free update.

Gastropub lovers, take note: Renaissance Pubs is offering 50% off the final check at its pubs, including Balham’s The Avalon, Kennington’s The White Hart, Battersea's The Bolingbroke and The Abbeville. Dishes vary from pub to pub but may include rabbit and pistachio terrine, Cornish crab cakes and, of course, traditional roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings. Be aware, though, that you need to book online; don’t just turn up or you may be disappointed (the discount continues till 11 February; click here for more details).

Dining while reclining is the norm at Notting Hill's Supperclub, an avante-garde, Amsterdam-based international franchise where tables and chairs are nixed for mattresses and trays in an über-hip, ultrabright white box; the full (and pricey) evening of entertainment includes a prix fixe, multicourse Eclectic dinner-in-bed, risqué performance artists, dancing to DJ-generated tracks and, from two bars, oodles of booze, particularly champagne, of which there’s an especially long carte.
