How do you get prime reservation times?

Michael Bauer recently wrote an interesting blog about “The Woes of Nabbing a Reservation.” What’s your take on this topic? Do you have a strategy when trying to book a table at a prime hour? Please share your thoughts!

I DON'T. NO MEAL IS WORTH THE AGGRAVATION. TRIED
3 TIMES TO SCORE AT KEITH MCNALLY'S. NO LUCK SO I WILL FORGO IT WITH CONSIDERABLE ANNOYANCE. MINETTA TAVERN USED TO BE MY LOCAL BAR. TOO BAD.

Stop by the restaurant in advance and in person. Speak to the reservationist about a future day & time and, if it's a special celebration (bday, anniv, etc.), mention that as well. And, in meeting with the reservationist in person, there's always the opportunity to provide an additional incentive. Doesn't always work, but you have a better chance than just a phone call.
