My wife and I had dinner at the Iron Gate Restaurant on the El Camino Real in Belmont, CA. As a frequent contributor to Zagat, I can vouch that the Iron Gate is one of the premier restaurants on the San Francisco Peninsula. Surprisingly, it is not in Zagat. Shame on Zagat. There is no restaurant in the Bay Area that can match the Caesar Salad of the Iron Gate. Same with its classical desserts--Cherries Jubilee, Bananas Foster. The Iron Gate has a first class entree list as well as a great wine list. The wait-staff are in tuxedos. I would rate the restaurant a 23-24 in food, 25 in service and 21 in atmosphere. Zagat--you need to include this restaurant in your next San Francisco edition.
