I rate the appeal high because the place looks like some dark hidden spot where the cool people like to go. I also rate the service very high because when my friend and I walked in there, we were two of three people in that place and had the cute bar tender's full attention. It was a weeknight, but even so, pretty dead. Perk: we saw someone get arrested across the street.

A great neighborhood place to chill with friends. Relaxed vibe and good music. Come early if you want a seat; otherwise be prepared to stand. Good prices on bar drinks.

My FAVORITE place in LA - perhaps because it reminds me of my hometown: New York. You'll miss this tiny place if you're not looking for it, but its worth looking, it's always packed and the crowd is diverse and friendly. You'll have to be up close and personal with everybody on the dance floor, but that's part of the fun.

Barcopa is really neat. The DJ has a great mix of 90s and top 40s music. Perfect for your group of friends, but beware the dance floor is small and you will sweat. There aren't too many places to have a seat but if you love to dance it shouldn't be a problem.

This place is pretty darn small. The bouncers are attitude-free. The bar serves the full gamut of (pricey) drinks. The DJs play an excellent mix of hip hop, dancehall/dub/reggae, a little pop and some old-school. You'll be surrounded by a veritable Whitman's Sampler of ethnicities on their [over-] crowded dance floor. Good luck finding a parking space.
