I finally figured out the "dream" of the owners of the Dream Hotel. They owned a Best Western that got $109/night in midtown Manhattan and "dreamed" how to get the rate up to $439/night. And here is how they did it: they took the existing Rikers Island-sized rooms, added some blue neon and a flat-screen TV (NO HD!) to each room, sprinkled in indifferent and incompetent service and called it a "boutique hotel" and, voila! The dream is complete!
If you want a girl to give it up, take her here. Rooms are fun and compact and beautiful, bathrooms are modern-cool, and service is prompt. The rooftop club is awesome to the max. Thiis is my homebase of cool when in NYC.
Not worthy of the name Dream. When you go to the hotel after visiting the website you expect so much; it has a cool fish tank and some black lights under bed; Woopee ! Rooms are ridiculously small. Bathroom design is mediocre at best. The restaurant Serafina was good but not fantastic. I did like the Ava lounge on the roof; you have great views of city. The lounge, Rm. Fifity5, on the first floor, was also cool. All in all, unexceptional.
Truly a dream come true, though abundant with Euro globetrotters, this Mark Zeff design is like living in a very modern painting. Food at Serafina may be just so-so and overpriced, but the Hell-inspired decor is worth a look.
Great location, roof top bar, decor.
