I nice local park on the beach. Great beach for swimming/kids. Very calm waters for about a mile long. There is also a sea wall at the east end that has totally quiet waters, protected from the sea.

Ala Moana Beach Park is one of the best beaches in Honolulu and most visitors don't have the opportunity to experience, but, they SHOULD! Great swimming,surfing, picnics and it's where the 'in town' local's go. It's FREE and worth the effort getting there - just a short 15-20 minute walk from the 'heart' of Waikiki. And it is cleaner too.
