So much to see, and learn. how the canal works, ie lock style. It's much more complicated to read explanations. To see it in action is the best way to understand. Also fun to watch the boats and yachts that are waiting. 1 summer day we saw jumping salmon, sea lions bald eagles. The small shop with rangers inside is worth stopping in. Ballard is fun, as is the Scandinavian museum. A. top destination when we show out of towners the city.

Slightly off the beaten tourist track is this free attraction in beautiful Ballard, WA! Watch the salmon climb, bring your dog, have a picnic, or eat at the the Lock Spot- a really cool and educational visitor's haven.
