Fun, but expensive excursion. You do go completely underwater unlike the submarines at Disneyland. The ride out to the submarine is a nice ride in itself. The views out of the portholes are pretty good, the ocean is clear and there is a lot to see.

A fun ride to take children. Ride in a very real submarine. Take a boat from Hilton Hawaiian Village hotel out to the submarine and transfer over. There will be quite a few steep stairs getting in and out. Go past an old sunken artificial reef and see fish and perhaps an endangered green sea turtle. Water can be a little sand-filled. Discount tickets available, just look. Military discount.

I've done this twice off Waikiki, and have had a great experience. If you don't scuba dive or want to snorkle, this is the best way to see the underwater sea life. I have not been disappointed with either of my experiences.
