More style than substance, the place is for the beautiful people. It is a good place to hang out. The best adjective to use is fun. I wish the food was better though. I had a beef carpaccio dish that was combined with different cheeses, but you really couldn't distinguish the different flavors. Salmon was bland and small, but acceptable. I'd probably stop here for drinks but then go somewhere else for dinner.

My girlfriend and I were walking in the East Village when she spotted the restaurant. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the owner who showed out to the garden which was cozy and clean. The service was great from the help with the wine list to the description of the desserts. The food was also amazing and original. The spinach and ricotta dumplings were delicious, my mouth is still watering.

Giano is apparently the Italian for Janus - two faced - and it inspired this restaurant which has two styles of Italian cuisine: tradiitonal and modern, which is also reflected in two styles of decoration in its rooms. Its tasty cuisine is made even more appetizing by the enthusiasm of the young owners, and by the outdoor backyard. E. 7th Street is definitely becoming the foody block of the East Village.

This place is fantastic!...The decor is authentic....having one side contemporary and the other more rustic decor of Italy is unique. The chickpea pannacotta is DELICIOUS and Paolo and Mateo are great and attentive to details , service and their clients comfort as they dine in this eclectic but very delicious restaurant. . . .I would recommend this place to anyone!!!!

If you're looking for one of the best Italian's in town go to Giano! Giano fits right in on one of the hippest streets in the east village. You get the real deal when it comes to the food which is out of this world. Great service and a cozy atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The unique concept to unite traditional & contemporary food is genius and it shows in every detail. Great wine list at a fantastic price! Giano is a gem of a bargain!
