Wish had read Nat's review before a group went there for birthday dinner this week. Major ripoff when you order the "specials" as they don't tell you prices which turn out way, way higher than regular menu prices. Small portions, uninspired, mediocre is being kind - and I am usually a pretty easy diner to please. Plus no parking in that congested area. DC has lots of dining options and this one certainly shouldn't be among them. Never again.
Great Italian food. The best part, i didnt have to wait long for my food. The service was great, the two ladies that work there are really thoughtful and knowledgeable about the food and wine. the food is great but they may need to increase the portion. the best is the breaded chicken. And to the last reviewer I saw Giovanni a day ago, apparently he was on vacation..whew
We ate there on June 28, 2009 and were stunned at the downhill changes since the last visit in October. Portions of salad starters have become miniscule and everything we ordered was"uninspired", if not mediocre. Former familiar staff were gone- Jean-Michele, Judy- usually at least one would be working on Sunday. Heard that Giovanni Diotaiuti left DC. This place is off our list.
The regular menu is pretty small, so if you go for the specials-beware! Their prices are much higher than one would expect from a restaurant of this scale. The food is average but the service is very bad. If you try to talk to the manager all you get is an attitude. My advice- go some place else, there is plenty of friendlier Italian restaurants in the area where they actually treat their customers with respect.
Good food but bad experience with the attitude of the management. Beware of the pricing tricks (won't tell you the specials are much more expensive than regular entrees). And be ready to hear you are wrong if you believe a bad grapa should not be sold 14$.
