The best thing about the Black Lab is the atmosphere and the service. The outdoor seating is especially nice in the summer. Their indoor business excels in the winter. The food is just OK. The fish and chips I had last night were not very good and the French fries reminded me of fast food quality fries. The dishes I have had before such as their salmon are very average. The soups are good. Stick to a nice pint of beer and enjoy the setting.

Consistently the best Shepherd's Pie I've ever tasted. Along with a cup of Earl Grey Tea, the perfect way to spend a winter evening on the handful of nights Houston temperatures drop.

Cozy atmosphere with hearty British comfort food. Outdoor option for nice days or sit at the bar for a cold beer. The food is what I expected (pretty good) each of the 3 times I've been there. Overall positive experience.

Beautiful strip along Montrose Blvd with brick and ivy looks like a pub in a college town in England. The outside patio holds a giant life-size chess set. Inside is a real ye olde English pub (less 400 years of smoke). They even have a fire going during inclement weather. The English style food is ok (hey! just like England!) but the hamburgs and curly fries are top-notch. A place to linger and long for the old country.

Great pub fare. This is most like the pubs I've visited in the Richmond suburb of London.
