Excellent scones and coffee! Even the local politicos meet here for coffee. The history and management of this place would make the namesake proud.

What could be nicer than food prepared with community concern and great ingredients? The staff, some of it volunteer, makes every effort to be hospitable to seniors on walkers as well as messengers on bikes. It's the only place where I leave an extra something in the tip jar: it goes to a good cause, serving around a hundred breakfasts a day.

what a wonderful breathe of fresh air in the neighborhood! great art work on the walls, and a great cause (training folks for careers in the culinary trade) in addition to great food. lots of good veggie choices.

A bakery with a heart - proceeds from this little cafe support Haley House, a Catholic Worker house and soup kitchen that serves breakfast and lunch to homeless men seven days a week.
