I completely disagree with all those great reviews. I had really bad experience at ZEN. At first, my wife and I were seated by the bar even though we made a reservation a few days in advance. Anyways, after an inquiry we got a better table. However, the table we got was really dirty. We could literally write on it:) In addition, glass was also dirty. ZEN is definitely overrated. I can rate it as highly as fast food bars in NY. AVOID this place!

It was my first time going to Zen and I must say it was good! I must say that is was very quiet and not one there to tell you were to go. I enjoyed the food and ordered it very spicy which I thought would be full of fire but is was not. Service was ok, we were seated immediately which is good. The one thing that we all enjoyed was the sake. I would tell anyone try the sake, you will have another. All the say the food was excellent!

Alas, I found Zen overrated. The food is not worth a night-time drive across the island -- it's average sushi and Pan-Asian fare found in most American mainland towns and cities. The setting also left me cold. While technically it overlooks a spectacular beach, in the dark of night this glassed-in, hermetically-sealed, echo-ey air-conditioned room evidences no sense of its location and could be just about anywhere. Service was very nice.

Zen is fantastic. The food and the view overlooking one of Barbados' best beaches creates a unique atmosphere. Although the service may be a little slow at times, the food usually makes up for it.
I would recommend Zen to anyone.
