Went to almost empty (two tables occupied) Ray's with friend, but still had to argue for a table! Still, I was looking forward to the food, you don't go for decor. When steak arrived, two things were immediately noticeable: Ray's does not cook over an open fire, as do the top steakhouses, and the steak was choice, not prime beef. Equipment and quality are comparable to a Lone Star or Outback, but pricier. Certainly no where near a top steakhouses

Great steaks. Garlic mashed potatoes and spinach served family style are up to the good meat. Service is a little amateurish, undertrained. Served butter expecting the guest to use a steak knife to smear the bread; too eager to clear before everyone is finished.

It's all about the food & good service here. The owner strives for a "everyday person's" restaurant, don't give attitude or try to invoke "don't you know who I am?" here. Great steaks that you can choose maximum flexibility with preparation [amount of char, temperature, sauce, etc] but don't underestimate their Fried Chicken or Crab Royale! And they give free sides to boot. Fantastic Crab Bisque here. Great Bar Special deal [3 course for <$30]

My steak, blue cheese crumbs and lite sauce skipped across my tongue and made me happy to be alive. The absolute best steak I have ever enjoyed. Wait staff stayed in the background and appeared as they were needed. They kept the table clear of unneeded clutter and full of delicious food. Highly recommend.
