Tucked in an unlikely location between a liquor store and a club, Banana Leaves was the best value (quality per price) we encountered during our stay in DC. From the Peking Duck and banana leaves rice to the sweet fried bananas dessert, the food was all tasty and well-prepared. The decor and seating is so-so though there was a second room upstairs we didn't see. But Banana Leaves was a welcome place to dine after a day walking our feet off.

I found Banana Leaves disappointing and bland. My grilled honey peanut tofu tasted like something I would've been reasonably happy if I'd improvised for a home meal, but I expect more when eating out! Tasted like a 70s hippy meal.

This restaurant has a variety of Asian dishes, but the steamed rice in banana leaves is a must as is the fried banana dessert. The Asian salad with crunchy noodles is crisp and light. Carry-out service is very good, and the prices are generally reasonably for most items.

Excellent additonal to the selection of asian eateries in the area. The juicy ribs are amazing even for someone who does not prefer Asian food usually. Laksa was on a light side, not as heavy as in some other places. Highly recommnend for dining in or delivery. Waitresses were too attentive, 3 of them tried to take our order, may be sign of lack of good management?
