Very nice Bistro. Next to the Willard Hotel. Good variety of traditional as well as new choices. Portions are generous and prices are fair. Friendly service and nice decor. Main dining is up on the second level.
We stopped by for brunch. The fare seems to be American Cafe style with a French overlay. One can order Croque Monsieur or eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast; pancakes or a crepe. The decor was crisp and bright and the service attentive. The pricing was fair. A good choice for an ample breakfast that is a couple of steps up from diner fare.
Service was actually excellent and the food was good if not overwhelming. Decor is nonexistent. Pricing is silly, but the place was busy so apparently the market is bearing the pricing. Tables for 2 are squeezed so tight they might as well put everybody at a table for 6 ; either way you are going to make some new friends. Overall I would compare to other bistros in DC, and I think there are far better choices all things considered.
Was there over the last weekend and was not happy with the food and the service. After my complaint the management reacted harsh. Would not go back there again.
The food is French in name only. Actually, it is pedestrian American fare with a French name. The service is good. But the busboys and kitchen workers are loud and thoughtless. You can count on hearing loud personal conversations throughout your meal; workers throw chairs, plates and utensils when they set up tables. Unfortuantely, the Willard is in a state of decline. This is its remaining restaurant and it is disappointing.
