This is the type of place that has a cool "aura" around it that makes the scenesters and hipsters want to like it and it is sort of cool to see a full bar at a breakfast place. Unfortunately, the food is just not very good. If you absolutely must be seen eating breakfast, go to The Mission instead.

A real neighborhood gem. Crowded so arrive early. Amazing breakfast and lunch dishes such as hangtown fry with loads of oysters; pancakes the size of wagon wheels; comforting meatloaf topped with baby asparagus; etc. Service is fast and seating is a little cramped, but the atmosphere is fun, and probably the best breakfast place in San Diego today. Don't get the orange juice as is concentrate.

Yummy! Porridge? I haven't heard of that since Goldilocks and The Three Bears. It was fabulous! Hearty, healthy, with many flavors meshed together. Not too sweet, beautifully presented and enough for two meals. ...Can' t remember ever asking for a doggie bag for breakfast. It was just as good the next morning as I savored every bite. The service was also outstanding as well. !!Highly recommend!!!

Delicious and relatively inexpensive American food in a charming setting. Parking can be a nightmare.
