Basic is a hidden gem which rivals Bronx Pizza. Pizza is cracker-thin with crispy crust. The red sauce with mozzarella is the best in town. It may be better known with downtown locals for it's hopping, large bar area. The restaurant side of the house only has maybe 10 tables although you can also have pizza in the bar. Bronx used to be my favorite pizza in town, but now it's Basic.

Dirt cheap and the greatest pie in San Diego. A little bit greasy, but get a large pizza (and I meen large) for only $12. Speedy service and a "garagey" atmosphere. Plus a bar that serves from after noon to night. Great for families and to take with your friens.
