Trying to get a nice, fairly quick, and semi-healthy dinner I tried the bar at Ruth's Chris. I've been to other Ruth's Chris but was disappointed with this experience. Their special salad was swimming in a mayo like dressing. I got the creole style shrimp hoping they would be a healthy alternative to the steak. The shrimp came out swimming in a butter sauce. Lesson learned, order steak at a steak restaurant.

Very good steaks and sides, but these prices are justifiable only if the food is otherworldy, which it isn't.

Depending on what you're goin for, Ruth's can be great. However, don't let it be for a steak! The ribs are FANTASTIC, and if you're an LSU fan, the atmosphere and decor are great.

Although it is now a chain, the Baton Rouge location still has a lot of its charm from when it was the second location born from the New Orleans original. Unfortunately, due to meal restrictions for state elected officials, it is no longer the thriving legislative hangout of its former years, but the food is still great, the service is good, and you can still occasionally rub elbows with some of the state's infamous movers and shakers.
