Very creative food preparation. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. Trendy downtown decor.

Having dined several times at Le Bernardin, I looked forward to visiting the Westend Bistro when I visited DC recently. Overall,a disappointment. Appetizer was excellent. Main entree ordered was not available. Salmon was overcooked and served cool. Coffee also served cool. Service however was two thumbs up.

The restaurant feels warm but also spacious--even on a crowded weekend evening--because of its smart design. While the hostesses were snotty and the bar staff was a bit inattentive, the service for dinner was perfect. Everything consumable was perfect, from creative drinks to a dessert that was an ideal combination of comfort with the unexpected. The fish is also definitely an imported highlight from New York. I say better than Central MR.

The food is seriously better than a 24. The speciality is fish. The day's catch is repeatedly excellent as is the stew. The servers know the menu and the chef and make a real effort to please. The wine list could be stronger.

Over-rated. Eric Ripert offers ok food at high prices. Big windows let in lots of light, and let passersby watch you eat. Not a bistro, really, but a medium-priced restaurant getting by on a name chef who puts out unexciting ok food.
