Took more than 30 minutes for the waiter to bring us our drinks. The bbq is overly sweet & overpriced. Though the restaurant is inside the loop, most of the patrons appear to be loud, drunk, twenty-something suburbanites. It was a bit like eating bbq at a San Marcos State University frat house. Plus, parking is impossible. Had to park 3 blocks away along a narrow, ditch-lined street.

Being fans of Monica Pope's restaurants, we expected so much of Beaver's; unfortunately, it did not come close. Service was terrible - 15-20 minutes to bring us water, half the beers we wanted were unavailable, brisket and ribs were out (even though it was 7 pm on a Sat at a BBQ restaurant in Houston), and the check was wrong! We won't be going back anytime soon...

Fantastic casual restaurant with an upscale-dive-bar atmosphere. Quality of food exceeds expectations, and innovative drink menu make this one of our favorite local spots!

Won't be back. The BBQ isn't really good texas BBQ and everything tries to be something it's not. It would be better if it were just a cool local beer drinking haunt with more normal food.

We were wary of this place when it opened: too much like the BBQ fad sweeping NYC - nouveaux-faux thats more locavore than carnivore. But after early missteps the food and the service improved dramatically. Pulled pork is excellent - sweet vinegar sauce smothering a fatty, smoky heap of meat on a soft but just-firm-enough bun. The brisket and sausage is still hit-or-miss. Beer selection is thorough if predictable, with a few standouts.
