I've heard of the "bum's rush" but at Ulah two friends and I got the "broad's rush". We had pre-theater dinner reservations - a fact Ulah knew and commented on when we were seated at 6:15. At 7:30 a manager and waitperson came to our table and told us we had to leave as other people had been waiting for our table for 45 minutes! Apparently they expect to turn their tables in half an hour! Average food plus rudeness = forget it.

Very pretty space, a pretty conventional new american menu, nice selection of beers on tap. The food was good with very reasonable prices. It was absolutely packed, as all the new places on U street are, and the staff seemed a touch overwhelmed but friendly and unpretentious. I think this will become a great neighborhood joint for reliable and reasonable fare in a nice atmosphere.

The food was good, but not great. The service was polite and the staff was friendly and accomodating, however, it seems like the service staff needs a little more experience. The ambience was upscale and trendy but not pretentious and the prices were very reasonable. Would definitely go back if we wanted a nice meal and good atmosphere without breaking the bank. Overall, a consistent experience across the board with room for improvement.

Ulah is fun. The interior design is most pleasing. It is very hip, very SF or NYC vibe. Brilliant to have bars upstairs and down. It makes for great people watching. Great staff as well. Think of this place as a more upscale version of Logan Tavern, a place we also like very much. The pizzas looked good, but we had an excellent Caesar and a very good burger and salmon BLT. Lots of really great beers and a small, but respectable wine list. We had
