If there is a culinary contribution to be found in Philadelphia it is the cheese steak. Steve's is a hole in the wall. A greasy spoon. The service is efficient to the point of being rude. The food is caloric. Your car might just get stolen while parked on the street. All in all it is a great place for a local and authentic treat!

Big disappointment! A goey, soggy mess that was hard to handle, especially on the 6" wide counter that is the only place to eat if you aren't planning to take out. After all the hype I expected better.

Steve's is mediocre at best. Yeah, they use sliced rib-eye but it's not great-tasting like some places in Philly.

We drive out of Brooklyn every year for the Army Navy game. We reach Philly early for the sole purpose of getting some steaks. For years we would hit Pat's, then Jim's, then we heard about Delassandro's. A considerable step up. Then, in Naples, FL, a Philly native told us about Steve's Prince of Steaks. The guys are artists. Slices of rib-eye done beautifully, whiz, onions, all sorts of hot stuff on a perfect hero. Absolutely can't be beat.

I was surprised to see Steve's on the list. I thought their food was awful! My favorite cheesesteak so far is Jim's on South Street!
