$65 four course tasting menu is a good choice. Minimalistic design and impeccable service makes a dinner here quite enjoyable experience.

Innovative cuisine without foolish edginess, in a room which is far more comfortable and inviting than stark on-line photographs suggest. A friend thoroughly enjoyed her gnocchi and veal while I feasted on a generous and succulent peppery duck breast. Killer martinis cascade over the glass in the adjacent bar, a mix of black woods and chrome accents softened by a polychrome coffered ceiling.

Their "iced" water tells you all about their food: heavily chlorinated tap water without any ice coming from a fancy wine vase. Food is very bland in taste and appearance. Our BURNT bread arrived in the middle of 1st course. We ordered coffee to go with dessert, but nobody was around to serve our coffee. When our waiter finally arrived, he raised his nose and said, "In France, coffee is served AFTER dessert." Such snob pomp is 50 years outdated.

The place didn't miss a beat, we were there for a special dinner and it was well work the visit. Extremely attendtive service as expected. We sat in one of the booths, with a round table and make the evening even more special. We all had the chefs tasting menu, and they were making a sub for one of the courses that I didn't care for. Only strange thing is the very long trek to the mens room, that was located on a different floor.

Best meal I've had in DC since Jean Louis closed. Excellent seared foie gras, tasty roasted lobster in tomato sauce, and a spectacular apple souffle (light as can be, with slightly tangy, sweet apples...perfect finish). I opted for the house champagne, my companions had various good and well-priced wines by the glass. Can't wait to go back again and again.
