Authentic, excellent quality, fresh & amazing. If you want authentic Chinese like Clams in Black Bean Sauce, Crispy Duck or extremely light soups, then this is the place for you. Negatives: service not friendly, yet not rude either....they only want to serve, that's it. Don't sit by the all glass window front during the winter, way too cold. Best Chinese in Westchester since HV 1 closed.

As of December 2009, the Hunan Village I is closed. I don't know if it will reopen. A very sad time, considering the excellent work Paul Chou put in the place. Go to the Hunan Village II; there, Paul Chou's legacy continues--top notch food.

I dont see how other reviewers are saying ask Paul for his advice in Oct/Nov 2008 - he's been long gone!! Service nowhere near what it used to be, new owner now trying harder - food still better than any other chinese in Westchester

even if new owners aren't as good and they don't meet, greet and interact with you it is a place to go. Best chinese new years in westchester even if pricey
