This has definitely become my favorite SF Italian restaurant. The mostly Italian staff is extremely sweet and helpful. Each table gets fresh baked focaccia. They have a nice and diverse stock of Italian wines. I started with the CROCCHETTE DI BACCALA (cod croquettes) which melt in your mouth. Delicious with the aioli. I next had the pork cheek amatrciana pasta. There is a depth and subtlety to the flavors. Was divine.

Walking in, I was sure we were in for a night of delicious food and charming service. But the experience only delivered half the goods. The food was quite delicious, but the service was comically bad. Of the 6 dishes we ordered, only 2 were correct (we had a non-meat eater with us and 3 of the 4 incorrect dishes had meat). Meal wasn't coursed properly, 30 minutes or more between servings. We will not be back for seconds.

Excellent modern Italian. Great octopus carpaccio, housemade pastas, roast porchetta, prawns. Sufficient sized portions. Wine list with many good inexpensive choices. Interesting room, brick walls and clean decor. Bar active. Pleasant servers. Terrific new restaurant.

Calamari was the best I have ever eaten. Octopus was tender and floverful. Arancini usually comes in little ball but they make it as a big rice cake. I have never eaten this way. It was tasty. Yes the pastas are really nice. The simple and good ingredients are key role in this restaurant. Even simple salad with parmesan (shaved from the whole parmesan) and aged Balsamic was fantastic! If you like porchetta, this is the place.

We ate here the first soft opening night ( May 18th) and everything was wonderful. The pasta was to die for. Hand made. The risotto cake w/ squid ink and shrimp is one of the more creative and tasty things I have eaten in the past 6 weeks, including my trip to NYC. I have eaten at Il Buco( NYC) and I find the space at 54 Mint much more comfortable. This place rocks! Oh and my date and I enjoyed the panna cotta.
