The dining experience is not what I anticipated. I was greeted after 5 minutes after entering the restaurant, the decor was outdated, food was mediocre at best and the service was average. The bathroom, the toilet was disgusting! I think at one point it was the best of the best. If I went to detail of my experience there, it would sound like the worst fine dining establishment in the city.
Tasting menus and great wine list combined with the upgraded decor have improved Rover's considerably. This is the place for a special, elegant meal. Very interesting wine list.
Outstanding prix fixe menu on Bastille Day 2009. Each item perfectly prepared and presented. The size of each course was perfect so that at the end after 7 courses, we were comfortable. The wine list is superior
I have always been a big fan of Rovers as THE Seattle restaurant for special occasions, so I was disappointed with our recent experience. Although the food was good, it was not "breathtaking". The fois gras was over cooked, the halibut cheeks bland and the presentations unimaginative. The room was so noisy we could not hear our server, and the service was intermittent including one course where it took 5 minto deliver the wine fleet.
Outstanding - Friday lunch also a wonderfil option for $35 for 3 courses - Among the best. See our full review at urban spoon Seattle where we rate this restaurant tops in Seattle for 2008 in 5 categories or at our blog by clicking our betweencourses profile above and selecting our blog from there.
