South End standby with broadest possible clientele in friendly, dark, crowded setting, with affordable dishes from Italy (on somewhat limited menu)

The best deal in Boston. Where else could you eat (well enough) and drink a this price. Crowd is straight, gay, old neighborhood and new! Its a trip!

Low-key, super-friendly, affordable family Italian/pizza. Daily specials are the way to go - always enough to take home something for tomorrow's lunch.

The decor is nothing if not entertaining (old booths, moose heads, road signs on the ceiling, voodoo masks, you name it) and the service can be a little spotty (like your cranky sister or it could be your overly enthusiastic cousin) but the calzones are enormous, the pizzas are solid and the pasta specials are usually great.
