Wonderful curries. The best Indian food around. My friends from London love this place.

A birthday treat to Ajanta that began with their atrocious bathroom cleanliness. It smelled awful upon entry and much to my dismay, I eventually discovered that the floor around the toilet was soaked in urine. I got it on my trousers. The food was mediocre at best: the pakoras were stodgy; the tikka masala was too thick and the nan was cold. Our rice never came. And having filled in a review card, no one offered any reduction off the bill. Awful.

A longtime Berkeley classic that is still going strong. A diverse menu covers multiple regional cuisines, with attention to authenticity in each. Crowded and noisy, this is not a place for a quiet date.
