Just as good as it's every been... which is saying something, given how long this has been a landmark SF restaurant. No brainer if you're catching a show at the Opera, Symphony, or someplace close. Very reasonable mark-ups on some great wine selections, fantastic food (as always) and phenomenal service.

Been there midweek. We had the Chef's Tasting, a 7 course menu: it was outstanding, no more to say. Thie menu was accomapanied (not mandatory) by the "sommeliers wine pairing", which was also perfectely tuned. Service was discrete and almost mindreading, like one can expect in a restaurant in this league. The athmosphere was relaxed but cultivated in a very exciting setting. All together: An excellent experience, that indeed, has its price.

The elegant decor is the main attraction here, although the food and service are quite good. The menu is somewhat limited. Restaurant does a great job serving the pre performance crowd and it is the best place in the area for dining prior to a Civic Center performance.

The place to have dinner before the symphony, opera or theater. The menu and staff is well aligned to provide excellent food with impeccable service within time limits, allowing a fine early dinner and still be seated before the performance. Great selections of wines by the glass, allowing one to try a number of different wines with different courses. Their vegetarian entre is one of the best in the city.

Expect upscale and high quality, but also expect to be paying for it. The value proposition is the only issue here.
