The dining room is getting a little tired, but the food is excellent, and the service was very nice (except for the hostess, whom I found a bit snooty). Their sommelier is amazing: incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, without being arrogant or condescending. We had the five-course tasting menu, with wine pairings: only one dish out (my lamb saddle, which was rather one-dimensional) was a mild disappointment. The rest were really great.
Everyone should have the 9 course degustation menu experience at Masa's once in their life. this is the kind of restaruant that is vanishing across America. Sets the standard for classic cuisine and service.
Delicious and inventive food and presentation. Solid service, great ambiance.
masa's is certainly not the grandest looking place compared to its peers. we had the 5 course meal, and every bit of it was amazing, the b.l.t. and the lamb were especially well done. the desert was carefully prepared, however it did not seem as grand as what it preceded it. the service was wonderful as was the atmosphere.
Not trendy, Masa's continues to offer elegant and quiet dining for adults. Innovative takes on French California cuisine and a superior wine list, complimented by perfect service make this the place for a celebration. Does a wonderful job with special holiday meals. It is expensive but it is worth it.
