I am a native; have lived here 58 years; been through The Blue Fox, Ernies, Fleur de Lys, etc. This is one of the ten best Restaurants in SF. period. It is pricey and the service can be too attentive, but for its genre, there are only a few places in the country that are comparable - if you like Masa's, Fleur de Ly's, Acquarello, La Folie you will like this

The a la carte offerings are fair to poor, including a lamb dish which was mostly underdone fat. Overdressed young people and unsophisticated families will enjoy this place--with its overdone service and decor, it is still only one step up from The Red Lobster in terms of sophistication and culinary finesse. 6 to 8 unrelated elements are combined with a protein to produce something which, to the culinarily innocent, might suggest haute cuisine.

Our favorite restaurant in SF; tasting menu with dessert cart is a special treat. Just make sure to save room for those desserts!
