We suffered the worst service in many years at Artisanal. The waitress forgot two appetizers, brought our desert before the meal and never mentioned the specials. To top it off, the maitre’ d offered a free desert – which at that point was an insult. This is the first time in my life I left with no tip – even that was too much. Too bad because the food is good – but this Balthazar wannabe has a long way go.
Best bistro food I've had in New York. On another visit, I had an excellent brunch. My friends and I hung out for over half an hour after we paid the bill, and no one asked us to leave. This is a classy place.
I was utterly disappointed by the service this past weekend. Food was not bad at all. Grilled Octopus and Branzini were well done and presented, but the service, wow, just terrible. Lillet Rouge not available (although featured on menu), no set up, Branzini appeared before appetizer, and was obviously prepared before my order. Wine not delivered with meal. No set up again. Cheese menu had to be requested, no knife with delivery, had to ask.
Food was average for the price paid. The service was not good and really turned me off from ever visiting again. The staff are not pleasant and the knowledge of the menu is poor at best.
