I use to love this restaurant bit they are getting sloppy. Too many places to go for expensive sushi today.

The sushi was very fresh and we loved the arugula roll. However, I agree with all of the other reviews that the place it too packed; we were right on top of our neighbors. The Sake list is very good though.

Quote from 1998: "One of the best fusion-sushi restaurants in manhattan, period. Can hold its own against any of the extremely popular (and excellent) SoHo sushi restaurants" Now 2009: Would never go back. Has steadily deteriorated over the years and my two recent meals there have been quite passable. Not worth the money given the much better competitors (e.g., blue ribbon sushi). Would avoid. But it was great 10 years ago.

We went on a weeknight and we ordered both sushi and non-sushi dishes. The sushi was fairly good, but the remaining meals were pretentious and lacked flavor [steak, sea bass, cod]. Our complaints were quickly addressed by the hostess. They also nicely provided us with some birthday deserts. Excellent green tea. The crowd is very trendy, but the space is tight. The staff is friendly and helpful.

I really enjoy the sushi but I don't enjoy how touristy it has become. The amount of people takes away from the ability to relax and enjoy your night out.
