Best non-view bar in town (Philip Johnson decor, interesting bartenders, large drinks, good munchies ... and of course expensive). Even pre-theater diners are made to feel special. Half duck is back on the pre-theater menu -- outstanding and a bargain! Crab cakes are TDF. Wines by the glass are well chosen. Get a copy of "Wiggens Learns His Manners at Four Seasons Restaurant" while there (autographed by both Wiggins and the manager/author).

On its 59th Anniversary, there is a $59 prix fixe menu - a sign of economic times. Service is excellent; however some of the cachet is gone. Very business oriented and the bathrooms on the first floor is an inconvenience. Still a great room, but not what it once was.

This was my first restaurant experience in New York, 30 years ago. For comparison, pretty much its only competition at the time was Pierre Franey's Le Pavilion. The fact that Four Seasons is still here, and still performing at the same rarified level (if not higher), is just extraordinary. So much has been written that there's nothing to add -- but if you can get a seat at one of their wine tasting dinners done with Sherry-Lehman, go for it.

Beautiful room and the food was inventive and outstanding. However, the service was the worst we have ever had in 30 years of fine dining. We were basically ignored in a restaurant less than half full. Would not return, ever.
