Fantastic food, better than I could have imagined. Warm, large, open space. The Lobster Carpaccio, what can I say, I saw god. Friendly staff, great service. I can see why this is considered one of the finest restaurants in the world. Expensive, but that is no surprise. Great for special occasions. Menu is extensive, there are many items I would like to return and try.
Good food, Great Staff, Good Wine, Too many sauces.... Ok, this is a great restuarant, but let the sauce be on the side or optional. I think if you're going to pay this much money for a meal, they would highlight the food and not add a sauce every time. I LOVE sauces, but after doing the Chefs Tasting Menu... Give Me the Option for Sauce.... Great Time Had by All.
"Temple of Seafood?" Right. Temple of Pretentiousness. Food is ordinary, overpriced. Wine list is ordinary, WAY overpriced. We asked several times to speak to Aldo Sohm -- we wanted to know how the "best sommelier in the US" could come up with such an uninspired wine collection -- and while he walked past our table several times, he couldn't be bothered to stop and talk with mere customers. At these prices EVERYTHING should be MUCH better.
A class act. Not cheap and a little dated decor wise, but 6 of us seafood-snobs couldn't falut a single bite. Inventive flavors that compliment the fish and cajole the senses. A real treat.
Overrated & overpriced. Had chef's tasting menu w/wine pairings. Food was very good but got a little repetitive after a while. Pairings were very interesting but much smaller quantities than Daniel & no refills if you particularly liked something. Service left a LOT to be desired. Expected a seamless experience but there were many hiccups. If you're looking for solid French cuisine (not nec. seafood) & top notch service try Daniel instead. Not #1
