Overrated. Expected this would be much much better after the reviews. I ordered the duck salad after reading the NY mag review- it smelled like dirty socks and tasted strange. Pad thai was average, slightly bland and had tiny dried shrimp that were disgustingly fishy. Everything was overwhelmingly salty. Only really good dish was the side of coconut rice- that was great. I'd give it one more try but did not live up to expectations at all.
The most authentic Thai food in NYC; but you still must ask firmly if you want really hot spicy food. After this you need to go to Thailand.
It was trully enjoyable and the service could not be better. They were very good with the water and they checked on us often. The garden in the back is the place to be so in the winter the environment is not that great...but that is not what you are there for! The food is flavorful and spicy and just plain fresh. The soft shell crab was fantastic. And many MANY choices.
I lived in Thailand for 6 months and I must say one thing: THIS IS THE ONLY RESTAURANT IN NEW YORK THAT OFFERS REAL THAI FOOD. And trust me I have tried a bunch of them. None come close to this one in terms of food quality, taste and price!! The Fried Rice is as good as you can get in the streets of Bangkok. The only drawback is the service which I find to be really unprofessional. Don't expect the Siam smiles :)
Excellent tasting food priced reasonably. Pleasant, not fancy, interior. Service was a bit slow and haphazard, but the servers fixed mistakes quickly without any problems.
