small intimate a fun trip to old Havana and Miami circa 1950's
Fidel would eat here when vacationing.
Great local, unpretentious restaurant. Not trying to be more than what it is--serving solid Cuban food with a smile. Service was great and price is right for such big portions. Frutas de mar was fabulous.
The Cuban Cafe WAS the only game in town, and the food over the years has ranged from good to average. Prices are tiny bit high, but food costs more these days. As for authenticity, well, sort of. There is a tiny, hidden, almost ugly, hole-in-the-wall place south of the CC about 2 miles that has more authentic cuisine, slightly lower prices, no atmosphere at all, and excellent food. Other Cuban places have now opened in the area, too.
Excellent food, fast and efficient service, pleasant decor. Black bean soup is very good. We enjoyed the sampler platter.
