The ‘new experience’ is lacking. Opening appetizer, Escargot, had the right ingredients but dish was served lukewarm. We had two types of beef entrees and neither was unique or special and relatively bland. The best food item of the evening was the cheese course. Our waiter was consistent with previous visits and was outstanding. Carmel has great dining opportunities, I’ll explore elsewhere until reviews indicate a change.
What a difference the owner can make. Changed hands 5 months ago. The charming wine store next store is still there but not available for purchase any longer. Very bland halibut and over cooked filet. Chef needs to wake up before it's too late
Very nice "plain Jane" place but it is getting boring with age - was more your Grandmothers joint - Hopefully the new owners will put some fire into it.
Recently purchased by chef and his wife, Bouchee provided warm, caring service and well-prepared French cuisine highlighting fabulous local ingredients. Wine cellar offers a range, including some older French with a focus on local offerings. What a delightful experience.
It started out badly. We were seated at the worse table, even with reservations and plenty of empty tables. The cauliflower soup had only a hint of cauliflower was mostly cream. The halibut entree with shrimp aspic was bland and mushy. To cap off the disappointing evening, the wines are overpriced at $40 for a half bottle of Lucia Pinot Noir and there was an 18% service charge for the priviledge of dining there. We were sorely disappointed.
