wow. slooooooow service.
Went there for the first time with friends who raved about it. After a long wait, inhaling the wonderful garlicky smell, dinner was not up to expectations. Fried calamari was overdone. Squid ink pasta tasted alittle burnt (all 3 plates); swordfish alittle dry - tasted more breadcrumbs than fish. Side salad was decent. Waiter friendly. Chef not so much; looked like he'd rather be somewhere else.
Never been t the new place. The North End location will always be expensive, thanks to gentrification and tourism. But the food is generally quite good. The best thing about this place? Two words: Calamari meatballs!
The best part about this location is the view - there are few places on Boston Harbor where you can be outside but covered from the elements as you watch boats sail by. You don't often find clams casino anymore and theirs are quite tasty. The ink pasta is delicious and their little necks are always done well, though not everything is always spot on. Service could definitely be improved - a lot of "starter" waitstaff. Not bad, just not good.
I highly recommend this place. Food is delicious. We travel to Boston once a year and we always make our way to this restaurant. Downfall is no restrooms.
