I was visiting New Orleans this week and was happy to learn that The Bistro was OPEN! Apparently, the restaurant was closed for several months due to a fire in the adjacent property. The decor of the restaurant has been updated, which gives The Bistro a fresh look while retaining the charm that makes the restaurant special. The service was exceptional and the food was fantastic as always. The duck cassoulet was outstanding -- simply the best!

Quaint French style bisto with one of the best chefs New Orleans has to offer. Food is always supurb and a wine list that is reasonable. Restaurant is small but that is part of the charm. If the weather is cool or at least not humid ask for a table on the patio.

During a recent trip to New Orleans, we had the pleasure of dining at the Bistro for lunch, and returned with a group of 8 for dinner the next day. The service, even with such a large group, was exceptional. More importantly, each of the menu items that I had the pleasure of sampling was outstanding (don't miss the lamb chops). If this restaurant was closer to home, I would be a regular. One of the best dining experiences I've ever had.

I have been to all of so called "best" of New Orleans but I have to say that my meal at the Bistro is by far one of the best meals I have ever had. With top notch service and an intimate dinning room I will be visiting the Bistro when ever my travels take me to New Orleans - it is well worth the trip.

In a word: phenomenal. The duck casoulet is quite simply one of the most delectable dishes I have ever had. Went for lunch (oyster salad - also fantastic), came back the next night for dinner. Intimate dining room, and lovely courtyard. The wine list shows that a good deal of thought went into it, all too often not the case in other good restaurants. Excellent service as well. The only downside: I live 1200 miles away.
