If you are a NOLA foodie, this is a do not miss down-home eatery. We went for brunch on a recent visit to NOLA, and were blown away by the quality of the food. The decor is pretty ghetto, and you are right next to the levee's, but my fiance and I thought the creativity of their dishes and quality of the food far surpassed the brunch we had at Commanders Palace the next day.
This is a classic New Orleans local establishment. Not close to anything, yet not far enough to keep you away. The praline bacon is simply awesome. Wait staff looks a little dingy - but hey - this is New Orleans. Food was very good, from eggs Florentine (with spinach, fried oysters, poached eggs and hollandaise) to the strawberry and cream cheese stuffed french toast was awesome. Come casual - park across street on levee and enjoy.
Great breakfast with some interesting twists in the morning. Gotta try the praline bacon and fried boudin balls really do work! If they have the poached eggs on fried green tomoatos with hollandaise go for it, you won't be disappointed.
Best chicken livers in town.
A little off the beaten path. The Praline Bacon is worth the trip all by itself. The strawberry cream cheese stuffed french toast (available on Saturday) is divine. Great brunch, stick with the breakfast items and you can't go wrong. Servers always seem to be slow and absent-minded but are just so NICE it doesn't matter. I love this place.
