Very good. Oysters 3 ways (9 total oysters) for $12 !! Formal but comfortable. Chef not on site.
Excellent food, interesting take on southern classics. Nice atmosphere, the quieter more intimate Library Room is preferable to the main room. Service is friendly but can seem a bit theatrical.
Good, but not spectacular, cuisine - a mixed bag. 4-course tasting menu with wine a good value, though everything is overly rich, without lighter courses for balance. Uneven service (endemic to New Orleans) - e.g., had to request bread and water, waiter did not offer coffee before bringing check. Seems to be another example of a celebrity chef opening too many restaurants, and losing control of what made him famous.
Disappointing! My salad looked like confetti on a plate; the sum total of which equaled 2/3 cup of vegetables- at the most! The lamb was mostly fat. So was my husband's veal. The quality of the meat was shockingly poor. And as if all this was not enough, our bill came with someone else's drink order added to it. If you choose to eat here- check your bill! Save your money and spend it at one of the other wonderful restaurants in New Orleans.
I've had two fabulous Friday lunches recently. The waitstaff is extremely knowledgeable on the menu and generally helpful. And Patrick (from years at Bistro at Maison de Ville) is a great recent addition. Dishes were wonderfully fresh and surprising. Love the amuse bouche to begin and the sweet treats to end. Besh is on his game here.
