Usually, a very consistent, tourisy restaurant in the Quarter. But I recently had a pretty good lunch here. The gumbo and chicken dish were delicious.

Food's OK, but the oyster bar is something to behold. The chatty shuckers are entertainment enough. And the oysters are fresh and tasty. And once in a while, an extra finds its way to your plate.

We had our first meal in NO here (lunch), and found it exotic. Later in the week it would seem more normal. The staff was sparse early in the day, but they did have time to be friendly and very helpful regarding the food. We discovered that the local oysters are a little bland (to us New Yorkers, anyway), but were very fresh. The gumbo and the bbq shrimp, however, were wonderful revelations. About twice as expensive as Acme next door.

Outstanding fresh seafood, great raw oysters, bbq shrimp appetizer is super, keep some bread handy for dipping, solid and enjoyable meal, competent service and very appealing decor, good spot for watching Bourbon Street craziness, all in all, met expectations and we would gladly return.

Bourbon House is a great place to go for the oyster bar or to sit down and have a really good dinner. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff is welcoming, informative and handy. Try the frozen milk punch...for dessert!
