An unpleasant surprise. For the life of me, I can't imagine why the room was full or why this establishment has such a good reputation. The food was poor to mediocre. The prices were high, but to be fair, I wouldn't return no matter what the price.

Sloppy, overpriced, uninventive fare which boasts local ingredients served in a traditional setting. The menu is stale, the servers unknowledgeable about the food they're serving, and the prices exorbitant. There are so many better choices in the city.

We had a most disappointing dinner at Higgins recently. While the menu was well conceived with interesting choices, the execution was horrible. Our ribeye steak was chewy and of mediocre quality. The accompanying vegetable (turnips) were so hard as to be inedible. The potatoes were overly salted and also basically inedible. We were comped for the meal, so they did the right thing. But this is inexcusible. We will not be returning.

On business trips from LA, I always eat here, especially in the wonderful bar in the back. The salmon with polenta is phenomenal; the flat-iron steak superb. Great drinks. Service just right. I feel right at home here, and wish we had something like it in Santa Monica.

We had a so-so dinner here. The food was good but not great. We were quite disappointed. My salmon was served with spatzel and raspberry sauce and was a bit dry but had nice flavor. The atmosphere was a bit staid and the decor was tired. It was Friday night but the restaurant was not full. Our server was very nice and professional but we would not go back as the overall dining experience was not lively and the food was not fabulous.
