Because I had just been to Per Se before this, the differences were obvious. The food lacked creativity and tasted ordinary. The price was "breath-taking" and the service was pretentious. In particular, some of the dishes were presented very poorly (did not look appetizing). After I complained to the manager about the lack of taste in my 150Euro lobster appetizer, they offered me another dish free of charge but, I was already disappointed.

Had the lunch tasting menu- 8 courses 3 separate dessert plates. 6 of the 8 courses were simply outstanding, truly spectacular; the desserts hit every high note. Chef Gagnaire really goes for the gold in each & every dish that comes out of the kitchen, which is more than I can say for some other high end restaurants. The service was spot on & attentive, but not overbearing. A memorable meal, worth the high tab, they had to roll me out!

The food was solid but did not even come close to my expectations. No wow moments despite unquestionable creativity. The atmosphere could be more relaxed.

i think i am in the minority but i wouldn't place this in the top 10 restaurants in paris for the simple reason there were too many misses. for instance on their langoustines starter prepared 5 ways, two were misses, two were good and one was great. same with the winter vegetable starter and the desserts. if you want brilliant innovative cuisine try mugaritz in spain. if you want the best in paris go to l'astrance. plan to spend 750 euros for 2.
