After seeing a couple of unfavorable reviews I had to go back to Hackney's (after 2-3 years or so) and see what was happening. Still had the great onion loaf, 1/2 pound burger cooked exactly the way I ordered it, mounds of fries and homemade blueberry pie. Have to exercise now after all that food, but it was sure worth it. Can't find a burger in glenview or the surrounding area that even comes close. And now they have a burger on pretzel bread.

The onion loaf is great. The burgers are OK (often overcooked) but with the proliferation of places now serving great burgers Hackneys should consider some other burger strategy. Not a great value and the rest of the menu is limited. I know this is a revered institution to many, and the great service and family friendly atmosphere (especially Harms Rd. patio) do make this a worthwhile destination on the North shore to take the kids.

Hackeneys has ok food but great service! AMAZING fried onion rings and hackney burgers. A nice patio and screened area. Great decor. All in All 4 and a half stars

Beware Hackney, Boston Blackie is breathing down your back. Harms road location is still the best outdoor patio on the north shore. Hackney is still hanging in there with the best outdoor patio on the north shore.

The food was really disappointing - prefab hamburgers, tasteless. Had to ASK for lettuce/tomato. Fried chicken special was greasy, bland. (White Fence Farm needn't worry about competition) Salmon - tiny portion, dry, unappetizing. The tables were so crowded in our room we could barely get up without bumping into the people at the next one. The mashed potatoes were the only thing even barely worth the visit. Not a winner, not at any price. Sorry.
