It's not an easy place to find, but it is worth the effort! You feel like you are a guest at someone's home when you arrive. Space is limited, but the food and the service are top notch! The marinated and grilled vegatables are divine, the gnocchi to die for, and the grouper and short ribs were some of the best dishes we have experienced in Chicago. Save room for the panna cotta, as it is the best we have ever had! We can't wait to go back.

Excellent classic italian food. Attentive service. Good fresh ingredients. The menu is limited and does not change much , but they have specials all the time.

This restaurant needs sprucing up. From the large stained curtain at the entrance to the cheap and dismal patio decor. After waiting 30 minutes for our wine to be served, the server announced that they no longer had our selection. No apology, but simply opened another bottle of his own choosing! The food was good.

The food was very good and the staff were attentive. However, based on the other reviews, I expected the food to be exceptional and that wasn't the case.

a tavola never fails to please. I take out-of-town guests there for a guaranteed hit. The setting is intimate, the food consistently excellent and the service is outstanding. Favorites are the oyster mushrooms, the gnocchi (best I've ever had), grouper and any one of the fabulous desserts. Everything is made fresh daily, and the owner is happy to share any of his recipes in his cooking classes.
